trade fair presentation at E-world 2018

This year, already for the fourth time, we realised the trade fair presentation for Energystock at the E-world in Essen. The striking design with the inflatables is still there, but with the use of colour, graphics and a video installation completely fresh and still very recognisable.

Around the World, four trade fair stands

Around the World, four times a trade fair stand on four different continents

When we were asked to develop a new stand for the IFAT 2016 in Munich, we were aware of the fact that in the same year three more events were panned on three other continents. This triggered us to propose re-usable and light weight elements that could travel the world easily.
As a visual starting point we chose the shape of a water molecule. These objects are inflated by a simply ventilator. The used material is very light and folded together also very compact. In a normal suitcase we can transport three inflatable water molecules. This gives huge savings on transport and handling costs. All other parts of the pavilion are locally rented or produced. This combination made the Netherlands water Pavilions very unique and recognisable but in the same time also very budget friendly and sustainable.

Nederlands Bio Paviljoen

Trade fair stand out of pure materials

When we developed the “Netherlands Bio Pavilion’ we wanted to focus on presenting the companies products in all their purity. For this purpose we created a pavilion built up out of an open structure of shelves and boxes. In fact like a traditional grocery store, but in a contemporary fashion, like a pop-up store. Needless to say we used as much as possible pure materials like stained pinewood, recycled currogated board and plywood.

Be prepared; branding and pavilion during the World Water Forum in Deagu, South Korea

‘Be prepared’ was the overall theme of the Dutch participation during the World Water Forum in Deagu and emphasised on the necessity of taking precautions to ensure a safe future of the growing population in delta areas worldwide. With the umbrella as an icon of this theme a consistent and convincing presentation was conceived designed and realised by Five Spices. In every part of the design the umbrella played a major role. One hundred umbrellas as the ceiling was the most photographed object of the event and even featured in the evening news on national television in South Korea.

For EnergyStock, the fastest gas storage facility in the world, Five Spices designed a trade fair presentation. A large inflatable cocoon of 3.75 meter visualised by means of a led light installation the capacity of coping with the volatile patterns of the energy market.

    Sustainable Dutch Design Pavilion

    Sustainable Dutch Design Pavilion

In October 2009 the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), on behalf of the Dutch Government, commissioned Five Spices to design the Holland Lounge for the Business of Design Week (BODW) 2009 in Hong Kong. The guiding values underpinning the conceptualisation of the Dutch Design representation at the event were creativity and sustainability. The design called for the building of a dramatic structure using the Dutch Design Chair as building blocks. The foldable cardboard chairs were used to sit on, to build desks and partitions and as giveaways during the fair. In line with the value of sustainability, Five Spices suggested letting the pavilion ‘dismantle itself’ by giving away the Dutch Design Chairs at the end of the exhibition to reinforce the concept of recycling. In fact, the Dutch Design Chairs themselves communicate both the value of re-using and Dutch Design’s values throughout their lifetime. Around 500 chairs were given to the organisation behind the Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture to take place from 4 December 2009 to 27 February 2010. They will be re-used in the Biennale’s main pavilion designed by the Japanese architect, Shigeru Ban.

Thirty Dutch companies were represented at the Holland Pavilion during the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi. Five Spices developed the entire concept and was responsible for the project management. The tree, symbolising sustainable development, was used to create the 'Dutch Energy Forest'. The rest of the pavilion used sustainable materials such as recycled cardboard, fabrics and energy-saving LED lighting. As transport places a burden on the environment, Five Spices used as many locally available materials as possible and made sure that the materials that had to be transported were lightweight and compact, such as aluminium and sandwich board. The Holland Pavilion was officially opened by his HRH Prince Willem-Alexander and HRH Princess Máxima.
